Made of cherrywood, with pine sides and top, we believe this survivor originated in the Connecticut River Valley sometime between 1720 and 1750.
The turnip feet and double arch moldings are original, and the brasses are correct replacements. Case width measures just 33 ¾” with a height of 37” and depth of 19 ¾”.
The overall condition is excellent with just a few minor imperfections consistent with its age.
Small American chests of this period in fine condition are uncommon.
