Metalware
Archives
Brass Bleeding Bowl or Barber's Basin
The small size of this brass dish indicates that it was more likely used as a bleeding basin than for shaving, although it is likely that the surgeon-barbers interchanged the function of these bowls.
This one is sheet brass with an indentation for the neck, and measures 7" by 8". It was made in the late 18th century.
