We have no idea who she is or who painted her (but one look at the face and hands tell you it was an accomplished artist). We don’t know where she was painted (but she is American and there is a NY canvas stamp on the back). We don’t know when she was painted (but judging by her hair and clothing, we think around 1835).
We do know she is oil on canvas that has been professionally cleaned and relined. We also know she rests in the original gold frame measuring 29.5” x 35” overall.
